Get me outta here!

On The Table @Farrer Park

Had a lovely walk on Sunday at Hort Park, and was tired of the same eats at Vivocity.
Chanced upon this two-store cafe while driving past, and decided to drop in upon checking out the postive reviews from Hungry Go Where.
It's a gem in the west, as one of the reviews put. Very different decorations as compared to the shophouses just nearby.
It's also pretty convenient as it is located just opposite of Farrer Park MRT. Although most of the traffic flow seemed to be heading to Pasir Panjang Hawker, this cafe is pretty filled up on a weekend 8+ pm.

The menu was handed to us promptly by a young, smiling girl, and were told to order at the counter. You can grab iced or warm water at the counter.

We ordered:

Duck Leg with Mash ($18)

The Big One ($18)

Waffle with 3 scoops of Ice Cream ($12)

The Duck Leg with Mash ($18) seemed very supplier-ish. The Duck seemed too perfectly portioned... and the bones colour different from how fresh meats would've looked like. As for me who doesn't like sour, the gravy is a no-no initially. However, after I decided to mix it with the meat, the sourness neutralized, together with the mash potatoes. However, there was way too much of the gravy. But the presentation is indeed a plus, because the yellowness of the gravy is the perfect subject for a instagram photo.

The Big One... is something that we wished we ordered the pasta instead. We were abit skeptical at following the recommended dishes of Hungry Go Where... but we did. Well, it's just the usual medley of "brunch food" like scrambled eggs, sausage, ham and salad. If you want to eat breakfast stuff at this hour, then you gotta pay more, I guess.

We were kindly asked if we wanted our waffles and ice cream to be served soon as we were finishing our meal, which was a pretty nice gesture, saved me from having to walk to the counter and back again.

When the waffle and three scoops of ice cream came, the nicely stacked ice cream is a sight to behold for any sweet-tooth lovers. The ice cream scoops were full. By full, i mean there aren't any "air" inside to make the whole scoop look bigger. The waffle is very tasty too, and was crispy throughout our battle with the three scoopfuls of ice cream- Earl Grey, Mint Chocolate, and Baileys and Brownie. The flavours are somewhat muted, not too sweet. With the waffle, they tasted good.

We would probably be back again if we're in the vicinity. There aren't much of such cafes in this area after all :)

Tip: Parking can be a hassle, just park across at the public carpark just beside Farrer Park MRT and Pasir Panjang Hawker Centre.
