Menya Musashi

We've visited this particular ramen chain multiple times, at two different outlets, one in Ion where we were first blown away by the free 4 times noodles. It's really worth the money, like $16.90 and you really get to eat till you're really, really full. The only downside is that you can't top up the soup, so there's just so much noodles you can eat without the soup...

Yoshimaru Ramen Bar @Holland Village

There are way too many good Ramen places in Singapore. Sadly, this isn't one of my favourites.

Squeezy and small, you can hear the conversation next table quite clearly.
I bought a deal coupon, (or perhaps that's the reason why the food wasn't good?) and only had one choice- Creamy Black Sesame Pork Ramen ($12.80). We were first served with a bowl of sesame to crush by hand, something like Tonkichi's.
Crush your sesames!

Black Sesame Pork Ramen ($12.80)

Of Hakata ramen, it is a distinctive ultra thin ramen with a film texture, served in a rich in iron, magnesium and vitamins B and E, using roasted black sesame seeds to enhance their flavor and aroma. The char siew was well-marinated and is the star of the dish, pretty generous as well. However, the soup killed everything. DO NOT ORDER THE SPICY SOUP. It tastes extremely different from the non-spicy one. If you do, be prepared to drink lots of water, or love it because you're a spice lover!

It isn't fair to just mark this place down because of one dish, but sadly, if the purpose of having a deal coupon is perhaps just to earn some money with a badly thought-through of dish and not gaining awareness, then my experience would have been better if I had order the other full-priced menu dishes...

Chabuton Ramen @Somerset 313

Not one of the best ramen places around after all the recent surge of authentic ramen stores in Singapore recent years, especially by a Michelin Star chef!

In Orchard area, there're quite a handful of ramen stores around this price as well.

It was touted as, "The ingredients used at Chabuton Singapore are directly imported from Japan or produced by local companies appointed by the Japanese team. The recipes used at Chabuton Singapore are the same as the other Chabuton outlets in Japan and Thailand, supervised by eminent chef, Mr. Yasuji Morizumi, the first ramen chef to ever receive a Michelin Star... While 14 outlets have sprung up in Thailand over the past four years" Hence we were attracted to try it out first hand. There was no queue, which I'd have expected.

Service
Servers were friendly but perhaps they were new, some staff seemed unsure.

Food

Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen ($11.90)

We opted for the hard noodles. which is quite tasty. The Miso Ramen ($12.40) is the nicer one, than Chabuton Tonkotsu Ramen ($11.90). However, both soups get boring after a while.
You get to choose between 2 different sizes, junior and standard, but we both felt the standard size is actually better for a meal. The junior size is quite price-friendly though. If you don't opt for the top-up ($3 for boiled egg and extra cha siu) the ramen is, also, very boring by itself.
Overall, I wouldn't return here for ramen.
There's many other options around town and Singapore, do follow my blog!
